The One Thing Scarier Than Textbook Prices📚
You will also learn which college campus is the safest, what you can do to make yours safer, and which bag is perfect for back-to-school. 🏫
Exams Aren’t the Only Fear This School Year 📝
A typical fear on a college campus includes theft, battery, assault, and substance abuse. They are all valid concerns, and anyone can be a victim of each. Just 28% of surveyed college students said that they had had no safety concerns… What do you think that means for the other 70%😐?
Although a crime can take place anywhere, not all campuses are made equal when it comes to safety. Pre pandemic statistics exposed The University of Nebraska, Vanderbilt, and Boston College as the top 3 campuses with the highest violent crime rate. Kudos to Clemson 🐅 for not only having an elite athletics program🏈 but also being elite in the area of safety. The other top 9 safest colleges can be seen below.

5 Safety Tips to Get You to Graduation 🎓
Although college is first and foremost a place to learn🧠, remember that not everybody there has the best intentions. Thankfully there are many ways you can protect yourself from any potentially dangerous or vulnerable situations🛡. By reviewing the tips below, you increase the likelihood of remaining safe while you navigate through your university!
1.Keep Your Eyes Off the Screen📵: It is common to see people walking along with their eyes locked on their cell phone screen👀. Don’t be that person that bumps into the telephone pole because you were texting your friend about the crazy night you had😵! Or even worse, miss the signs of danger because you were not paying attention. While walking through campus, keep your eyes peeled on your surroundings. Text your pal when it’s appropriate and safe.
2. Know Your Campus 🏫: It can be easy to get lost on a college campus. Spend a day or so walking around and observing notable landmarks. This will make future navigating easier while lowering your risk of getting lost or winding up in a dangerous situation😲. Note the main buildings that are typically filled with people and places you can go where there is active staff working. Most college campuses have blue light emergency phones, which allow you to make quick emergency calls for help📞. Know where they are so you can call for help if needed.
3. Use Your Locks 🔐: If you have roommates, get used to locking your door at night and when you leave. Even if everybody is friends in your dorm, it is still essential to protect yourself and your belongings. Many become complacent, but you never know who may be putting on a false show of friendship. Additionally, get yourself a bike lock that's your mode of transportation. For added convenience, a biometric padlock allows for easy access to your valuables.
4. Never Walk Alone At Night 👬: Whether you are going to parties, hanging out with your best friends, or going to gatherings and events on campus, it is important to use the buddy system even if you are only traveling a short distance. College campuses often do not have much entry security, so a person with malicious intentions can enter them. Dangerous people are more likely to seek a target at night🌃, and being alone makes you more vulnerable to them. If you walk with a friend, you lessen your chances of an unfortunate encounter.
5. Stay In Control 🍺: With college parties, comes alcohol. If you choose to drink🍹, make sure you do so responsibly. Never stay at a party longer than your friends do. Being inebriated can affect your risk tolerance, and you never know who may take things too far. Stay beside people you trust and have a plan for how to get home safely. Bad decisions are easier made when drunk. Nobody wants to be that individual who does something stupid because they are drunk, or even find themselves next to that person. Stick to one drink an hour and hydrate💧 with water between to ensure your safety at a party.
With these tips in mind, you can stay safe while having an exciting and fun experience on campus!
